Second Outbreak Of Foot-And-Mouth Confirmed
A second case of foot-and-mouth has been confirmed at another farm in Surrey, close to the site of the first outbreak.
The cattle at the farm was culled as soon as the signs were spotted on Monday, Environment Secretary Hilary Benn confirmed.
Meanwhile, the owner of the farm where the first outbreak of the virus was discovered has told reporters that he was "devastated" by the discovery.
Roger Pride, who owns Woolford Farm, near Guildford, told reporters that he believed that an overflowing sewer may have been the cause of the infection.
More than 100 cows were slaughtered following the discovery of the virus on the farm.
A nationwide ban on the movement of cows, sheep and pigs has been put in place, as well as an export ban. However, no new cases of foot-and-mouth have been reported in the last 24 hours.
Protection and surveillance zones have also been set up around the infected area.
Speculation about the cause of the outbreak has centered on the nearby Institute for Animal Health and private vaccine manufacturer Merial in Pirbright in Surrey. The virus is stocked on both premises and it has emerged that the virus on the farm was the same strain.
The official findings of a Health and Safety Executive investigation into the source is expected later on Tuesday.

Bird flu farm disinfected
The Suffolk turkey farm at the centre of an outbreak of bird flu is being disinfected following the cull of almost 160,000 birds. All the birds at the Bernard Matthews farm in Holton, near Lowestoft, following the discovery of the deadly H5N1 virus, were transported in sealed lorries to Cheddleton in Staffordshire, where they are to be incinerated.

Health inspectors are continuing to investigate the outbreak of foot-and-mouth at two farms in Surrey to find the cause. A number of lines of inquiry are being investigated, including the possibility that employees from a nearby research site could have spread the virus.

Production restarts at Suffolk turkey farm
The Suffolk turkey farm at the centre of a bird flu outbreak is re-opening for business and resuming the slaughter and processing of poultry. The government gave the Bernard Matthews farm in Upper Holton the go-ahead to restart operations and, according to reports, turkeys have already begun to arrive at the plant.

Investigation Underway After Hay Bales Destroyed By Fire
Approximately 100 bales of hay have been destroyed by a fire which firefighters suspect may have been started deliberately. The blaze was reported to fire crews at 7:30pm at Contullich Farm, Alness on 21 July. Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sent two appliances from Invergordon to tackle the fire.
