Teenage Mother Stabbed During ‘Disturbance’
An 18-year-old mother has been stabbed to death during a late-night disturbance, Northumbria police have revealed.
The teenager, Samantha Madgin died in a lane between Victoria Avenue and Albert Avenue, in Wallsend, near Newcastle at around 11:50 on Thursday. She had recently given birth.
A 15-year-old girl has been arrested in relation to the fatal stabbing.
Police already announced a man aged in his 30s and woman in her 20s had been arrested in connection with the killing, and a murder investigation is underway.
The victim suffered stab wounds and died later. A post-mortem is due to be carried out today.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Paterson, who is leading the murder inquiry said: “There was clearly some sort of disturbance going on which has led to a young woman losing her life.
“I particularly want to hear from anyone who was in Victoria Avenue, Albert Avenue, Harle Street and the area of Park Road around this time.”
Friends and family have been laying flowers close to the murder scene. Miss Madgin was described by a neighbour as a well-mannered mother.
A man who lives 100 yards from the scene said he was a family friend, and knew the family said: “She was a really nice young girl with nice manners and was a pleasure to know. She seemed to be looking forward to being a mum and was overjoyed when she was.
“She was an attractive young girl. I have known the family for many years and this is a tragedy.”
