Man Released In Boxer Shooting Investigation

A 22-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the shooting of former British heavyweight boxing champion James Oyebola has been released on bail.

The man was arrested in Putney, west London on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, another man, who was arrested at Gatwick Airport on Wednesday is continuing to be questioned by police.

A 19-year-old man was also arrested in connection with the case. He has been released on police bail, pending further inquiries.

Mr Oyebola, 47, was shot in the head and leg at the Chateau 6 club in Fulham Road in west London on July 23, after apparently intervening in a row over smoking. He died four days later.

Police have confirmed that a third man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of two teenagers at a McDonalds restaurant. The 18-year-old is being questioned at a south London police station. The two youths both aged 17 were shot by a gunman at the restaurant in Brixton on September 28.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

Cole Released On Bail After Wife Attack
Nottingham-born footballer Andy Cole has been questioned by police after an alleged assault on his wife. The 36-year-old, currently on loan at Burnley, was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning at his home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire. Chesire Police have confirmed a man was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Police Dig Up Pub Patio In Search For Missing Landlady
Police investigating the disappearance of a landlady in Cambridgeshire in 1997 are digging up the patio of her former pub. Deborah Steel, 37, was landlady of the Royal Standard in Ely, Cambridgeshire, when she disappeared on 28 December 1997. Police have said that Ms Steel's disappearance is now being treated as a murder investigation.
