Family found murdered in Manchester

The bodies of a teenage pop star, her mother and her brother have been discovered with serious head injuries which has prompted police to begin a murder inquiry.

The three, believed to be local nurse 35-year-old Beverley Matthews, her 13-year-old son Fred and 18-year-old Keisha were found at a house in Fallowfield, Greater Manchester.

Their bodies were discovered by police at around 7pm on Thursday evening after reports a woman had been found dead inside.

Kesha appeared in the children's version of the ITV talent show Stars In their Eyes as singer Toni Braxton, and always had high hopes of becoming a successful popstar.

A police spokesperson said: "We have strong lines of inquiry, but what is always critically important at this stage is that we do not get ahead of ourselves and we have to maximise the opportunity we have of identification."

Police are appealing for people with any information to contact them immediately.

Police Investigating If Woman Was Trying To Save Dog When She Was Hit By Train
British Transport Police investigating the death of a woman have said that she may have been trying to save a dog when she was hit by a train. The 22-year-old woman was struck by a train close to Ainsdale station near Southport, Merseyside at about 15:00 on Wednesday. Transport police said a dog was also found dead at the scene.

The body of Greater Manchester Police Chief Michael Todd has been released to his family for burial. The 50-year-old married father-of-three was found dead at the foot of cliff near Bwlch Glas in Snowdon north Wales on Tuesday afternoon.

Police officers shot at in bank robbery
Two police officers have been shot at during an armed bank robbery in Bolton, Greater Manchester. The shooting happened at Barclays Bank on Winter Hey Lane in Horwich on Wednesday morning. A gang of three men had robbed the bank and fled the scene.
