Cartoon protestor guilty of incitement

A protestor who said that British troops should be sent home from Iraq in body bags has been convicted of incitement to murder.

Mizanur Rahman, 24, from Palmers Green in north London made the comments during a demonstration in February 2006 against the publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed.

Rahman, who was captured on camera, used a loudspeaker outside the Danish Embassy to tell the crowd: "We want to see them coming home in body bags. We want to see their blood running in the streets of Baghdad."

The Old Bailey heard that he also had in his possession placards calling for the beheading of those who insulted Islam.

Sentencing was deferred until July 18.
