Police officer stabbed on duty in London

A Metropolitan Police community support officer has been stabbed while on duty in Victoria, central London.

The male officer, who is in his thirties, was attacked around 10am near a branch of Lloyds Bank in Victoria Street.

The officer was taken to hospital, but his condition was not life threatening and it is understood that he was later discharged.

Police have confirmed that a man in his thirties has been arrested in connection with the attack.

Victoria Street was cordoned off while sniffer dogs carried out a search of the area.
