Quinten Davies defects to Labour
Conservative MP Quinten Davies has been welcomed into the Labour party.
Mr Davies the MP for the constituency of Grantham and Stamford wrote a scathing letter to Conservative party leader David Cameron.
In the letter Mr Davis wrote: "Under your leadership the Conservative Party appears to me to have ceased collectively to believe in anything, or to stand for anything.
"It has no bedrock. It exists on shifting sands. A sense of mission has been replaced by a PR agenda."
Gordon Brown expressed his "delight" that Mr Davies was joining the Labour Party. He said that Mr Davies commanded "respect from all sides for his dedication to public service."
The defection has been viewed as a severe blow to Mr Cameron and a feather in Mr Brown's as he prepares to take over as Prime Minister.
Mr Cameron said he was sorry that Mr Davies felt that he was no longer able to support the Conservative party.
