Murder investigation launched after bodies found
Grampian Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of two bodies at a house in Peterhead.
The bodies of Saranna Buchan, 20, and James Logan, 41, were found at a house in North Street on Tuesday, following a call from a member of the public.
Detective Inspector Phil Chapman, who is leading the enquiry, said: "Our main focus of attention is to establish if there were any sightings of the man and woman and try to find out their movements and what interaction would have taken place between them prior to their deaths.
"Extensive enquiries are ongoing including a detailed forensic examination of the crime scene at North Street. That and the pathology will take several days after which we should have a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
DI Chapman said that it was too early to speculate on the motive for the murders. He said: "The bodies were removed from the house overnight and a post-mortem will be taking place over the next couple of days. Only then will we be able to say whether or not a weapon was used.
"It is too soon at present to say if anyone else is being sought with regard to the deaths. Clearly something untoward happened in that house and we need to fill in the blanks. We are particularly interested in the activities at the address in North Street in the days leading up to the discovery of the bodies and to that end we really do need the assistance of the public.
"We would strongly appeal to anyone who has information about the activities at that address or has any information which could assist us to contact the police. They may think their information is insignificant but it may prove vital to the progress of the enquiry."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Grampian Police on: 0845 600 5 700.
