Kate died from 'multiple stab wounds'

Kate Beagley, the Surrey woman who was found dead in woods in Hertfordshire on Monday, was stabbed to death, it has been revealed.

A post-mortem revealed that the 32-year-old from Walton-on-Thames died as a result of multiple stab wounds to the neck.

Ms Beagley, a sales manager for Centrica, disappeared after going on a date on May 30. Her father reported her missing last Thursday.

Her body was found in Oxhey Woods in Oxhey in Hertfordshire in the early hours of Monday morning.

A man appeared in court on Tuesday charged with her murder. Karl Joseph Taylor, a football coach from central London, was arrested on Friday night on suspicion of kidnap and was then re-arrested on Monday on suspicion of murder.

He was remanded in custody at Staines Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on September 11.

A statement issued by Ms Beagley's family on Tuesday described her as "loving, thoughtful, dependable, loyal and tremendously popular". The statement said: "She was great fun to be with and had an uncanny way of always making those around her laugh. Kate will be missed by everyone that knew her every day and in every way. Kate knew that she was dearly loved by all who knew her."
