Man on weapons charge after Royal visit

A 34-year-old man has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon after a man was spotted carrying a pickaxe near where the Queen was due to begin a walkabout in Huddersfield.

The man was arrested by police about half-an-hour before the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were due to arrive in St George's Square on Thursday.

He is due to appear before Huddersfield Magistrates' Court on Friday.

The Royal visit went ahead as planned.

Public Name New Neighbourhoods In Olympic Park
Five new residential areas that will be built on the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park have been named following a public competition. Almost 2,000 people submitted their suggestions to the Olympic Park Legacy Company, inspired by factors such as the future design for the area, its history or the Games themselves.

UK Papal Visit Confirmed
The Pope will make a four day visit to the United Kingdom in September, it was confirmed today. A formal invitation was sent to the Vatican from the Queen. Benedict XVI will tour England and Scotland between 16 and 19 September.
