Two helicopter crash bodies identified

Two of the four people killed in Tuesday night's helicopter crash have been identified.

Phillip Carter, 44, and his son Andrew Carter, 17, were formally identified as being in the helicopter that crashed on a flight between Liverpool and Peterborough.

The helicopter, carrying the party of businessman Phillip Carter, disappeared from radar screens. Yesterday rescue services found four bodies in wreckage of the helicopter in Cambridgeshire.

Mr Carter, a Chelsea supporter who is one of eight honorary vice presidents of the team, was at the team's Champion's League game against Liverpool at Anfield and it is understood that he was returning home from the game.

The company he founded, Carter & Carter, issued a statement saying: "Our thoughts and condolences are with Phillip's wife, Judith, daughter Natalya and the family and friends of all those involved in this tragic accident."

According to reports, along with Mr Carter and his son were Jonathan Waller, a friend of Mr Carter's and the pilot Stephen Holditch. However, police have not yet confirmed the identities of the two other bodies.

It is understood that the helicopter left John Lennon Airport in Liverpool at 11pm on Tuesday and it was due to land in Thornhaugh, west of Peterborough, where Mr Carter lives.
