Competitor dies after London Marathon

A 22-year-old man who fell ill after completing the London Marathon has died, race organisers have confirmed.

It is understood that the man, who has not been named, died in hospital after successfully completing the 26-mile course.

Organisers have offered their "deepest sympathy and condolences" to the man's family and friends.

A second runner, who was in a critical condition in hospital on Sunday night, has now been transferred to a normal ward.

More than 36,000 people took part in this year's event, which saw temperatures soar to 22C. St John's Ambulance said that they treated more than 5,000 people, during the course of the marathon, while at least 57 people were reported to have been taken to hospital.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. who was participating in the marathon - his eighth - described the conditions as "extraordinary", saying that it was like "running in a desert."

Man Dies After Completing London Marathon
A 42-year-old man has collapsed and died after completing the London Marathon. According to the organisers, the man received immediate medical attention when he completed Sunday's marathon. He is thought to have collapsed at the finish line. He died a short time later in hospital.

Marathon runner 'died from drinking too much water'
The 22-year-old man who collapsed and died after completing the London Marathon at the weekend is believed to have died from drinking too much water. The cause of fitness instructor David Rogers' death has not yet been confirmed, but it is thought that he was suffering from hyponatraemia - an overdilution of sodium in the blood plasma.

Police Appeal For Man Missing From Glasgow Hospital
Police Scotland have appealed for help in tracing a man missing from a Glasgow hospital. Iain McHarg, 58, is a patient at Leverndale Hospital in the Pollok area and was last seen at 1330 hours on Tuesday 11 August 2015. He is described as 6'2", heavy build, bald with short grey hair at the sides and stubble.

Less women involved in drink fighting
Serious violence-related injuries fell by 2% in England and Wales, despite the introduction of new licensing laws, a survey has found. The survey, by Cardiff University's Violence Research Group, studied data from 33 Accident and Emergency departments across England and Wales.
