Man in court over 1975 murder

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of eleven-year-old Lesley Molseed in 1975.

Ronald Castree, 53, of Brandon Crescent, Oldham, Greater Manchester, pleaded not guilty to the charge at Bradford Crown Court on Thursday.

Lesley vanished on October 5, 1975, after leaving her home on Delamare Road in Rochdale to run an errand for her mother.

Her body was discovered three days later on Rishworth Moor, near Ripponden, West Yorkshire.

She had been stabbed 12 times.

Stefan Kiszko, a 22-year-old tax clerk from Rotherham, was convicted of the murder in 1976, but was freed in 1992 after the Court of Appeal overturned his conviction.

He died shortly after his release.

Mr Castree has been remanded in custody. His trial is due to begin on October 22.

Man Jailed For Life For Lesley Molseed Murder
A 54-year-old man has been found guilty of the murder of schoolgirl Lesley Molseed in 1975. Comic book dealer Ronald Castree, of Brandon Crescent, Oldham was found guilty of the 11-year-old's murder. He had denied the charge. He was jailed for life at Bradford Crown Court and told that he would have to serve a minimum of 30 years years in prison.

A four-times killer has had his appeal against a life sentence refused by the High Court. Donald Neilson, 71, labelled the infamous "Black Panther" was convicted of murdering Lesley Whittle in 1975 and also of shooting dead three sub-postmasters during armed robberies.

Renewed Appeal Offers Reward In 1975 Murder Investigation
Police have renewed an appeal for information on the murders of Eve Stratford and Lynne Weedon in 1975. A reward of £40,000 is now being offered for information leading to a conviction in the murders, which were linked by police in 2006. Eve Stratford was found murders at her flat in Lyndhurst Drive, Leyton on 18 March, 1975.

Police continue to question man over 1975 murder
Police are continuing to hold a man in connection with the murder of 11-year-old schoolgirl Lesley Molseed more than 30 years ago. The 53-year-old man from Oldham was arrested on Sunday in connection with the murder. Lesley disappeared from her home in Rochdale on October 5, 1975, after leaving to go to local shops on an errand for her mother.

Police Appeal For New Information On 1975 Murders
Police have issued a new appeal for information on the murders of of two women in 1975. In 2004, police found DNA evidence that linked two separate murders in that year: Eve Stratford (22) was found with found murdered in her home in Leyton, east London, in March 1975.
