Three people killed in M6 collision
Three people have been killed in a collision on the M6, Lancashire police have confirmed.
The incident happened on the border of Greater Manchester and Lancashire, near junction 27 at Standish on the northbound carriageway of the M6, around 6:50am on Tuesday morning.
It is understood that a lorry fell on to a Fiat Punto. Three men in the car were pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth man in the car and the lorry driver were taken to the Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
Four people in a Ford Galaxy, which was also involved in the collision, were also slightly injured and were taken to hospital.
Those who died in the collision have not yet been identified, but they are reported to be aged in their forties or fifities.
The M6 has now fully re-opened in Lancashire and traffic is reported to be moving freely past the scene.

Up To Four Suffer 'Life-Changing' Injuries In Troop Carrier Collision
More than 20 people have been injured, 4 or 5 seriously, in a collision involving three troop carriers on Salisbury Plain. Wiltshire Police were called to the accident at about 18:30 on Wednesday. The cause of the accident is being investigated but it is understood that 4 or 5 people have suffered "life-changing injuries".

Man Injured After M6 Collision
The M6 in Birmingham is closed in both directions after a crash involving four lorries, a van and a car, left a man fighting for his life. Seven people were taken to hospital following the collision between Spaghetti Junction and the Great Barr turning at around 5.40am on Friday.

A Portuguese lorry driver has been found guilty of causing the deaths of a family of six in a crash on the M6. Paulo Jorge Nogueira da Silva was sentenced to three years in jail after killing the Statham family, of Llandudno, when the 40-tonne lorry he was driving hit their car as they travelled home from Birmingham.

Sixteen arrested in drugs raids
Fourteen people have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences in a series of coordinated raids in Lancashire, Merseyside and Northern Europe. The raids took place around 5:30am on Tuesday morning and involved more than 200 police officers, including search and entry trained officers, specialist firearms officers, dog handlers and detectives.
