Vandals trash family home

Police are trying to track down revellers after a family home was trashed during a party thrown by a teenage girl.

Rachael Bell is still in hiding and is too scared to face her parents after two hundred teenagers travelled to the party in County Durham after seeing it advertised on the internet.

Rachael's parents, Alan and Elaine were away on a caravan holiday over the Easter break.

Every room in the house was ransacked and the girl's mother's wedding dress had been taken from a wardrobe and urinated on.

Mrs Bell said: "I told her that I did not want any kids or drink in the house while I was away and I am furious. It's worse than a burglary, I can't believe it.

"It will take a month for it to be professionally cleaned and we are having to stay in temporary accommodation."

Rachael is now staying with friends for a "cooling off" period.

A spokesperson for Durham Police said: "There has been a formal complaint from the owners and criminal damage to the interior and fixtures and fittings."
