British woman was strangled
The British woman who was found dead in a bath filled with sand in Japan had been strangled, Japanese police have confirmed.
The body of Lindsay Hawker, 22, from Brandon, Coventry was found in a block of flats in Ichikawa, east of Tokyo on Monday.
She had also suffered injuries to her face.
An arrest warrant has been issued for the resident of the flat where her body was found - 28-year-old Tatsuya Ichihashi. He was reportedly seen fleeing barefoot from the flat.
Miss Hawker had been working as an English teacher for the Nova language school and had only been in Japan for a couple of months.
Miss Hawker's father Bill and her boyfriend Ryan Garside travelled to Japan in order to identify her body.
Bill Hawker told reporters that his daughter was a "lovely girl" who "would have helped anybody" and said that he "will not rest" until her killer has been caught.
He also said that his daughter was not in a relationship with Mr Ichihashi and said that he believed she had been "tricked" into going to his apartment on the pretext of giving English lessons.
Mr Garside told reporters that he had been with Lindsay for four years and spoke of how they planned to get married and start a family. He said: "That man has ruined mine and Lindsay's plan - he ruined our dream."
