Murder investigation launched following woman's death in Glasgow

Police in Glasgow have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 27-year-old woman who was stabbed in Glasgow earlier this month.

Susan Shivers, from Milton in Glasgow, was assaulted in Robertson Lane in the city around 11:35pm on March 3.

She was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and treated for her injuries before being discharged a few days later. However, last Friday she became ill at home and was taken to hospital where she was found to be dead on arrival.

Following a post-mortem examination at the weekend, police have confirmed that they are treating her death as murder.

Police believe that Ms Shivers was working as a prostitute at the time of the attack and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly keen to trace a man who was seen walking down Robertson Street towards the Broomielaw around the time of the assault. He is described as being in his late 20s, around 6ft tall, of thin build with short hair, wearing silver-rimmed round-framed glasses, a grey hooded tracksuit top with a zip and blue jeans.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Feighan said: "Around 11:35pm on Saturday March 3, the area around Robertson Street and Argyle Street would have been very busy with people making their way home and there would have been a number of taxis and buses in the area. I am appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time and who has any information whatsoever which might help us with our enquiries to come forward."

Chief Superintendent David Christie said that policing of the area had increased since the attack on Ms Shivers.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on: 0141 532 3261 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
