Search under way for Ashton sex attacker
Police are searching for a sex attacker who abducted a 17-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her in Ashton-under-Lyne at the weekend.
The girl was walking along Whitacre Road the early hours of Sunday morning when a car pulled alongside her and the driver offered her a lift. She refused, but the driver pulled her into the passenger seat and locked the door.
He then drove her to an area near King Street where he sexually assaulted her in an alleyway before dropping her off in Arlies Street.
The attacker is described as Asian, around 5ft 6ins tall and aged in his twenties with short dark shaved hair and stubble on his face. He was wearing light coloured denim jeans and a black leather jacket, which was zipped up.
Detective Inspector Jon Chadwick of Greater Manchester Police appealed for witnesses to come forward. He said: "Although the girl was not physically injured, this was still an extremely terrifying ordeal for her to go through.
"The man was driving erratically around Ashton as the girl was screaming and fighting to get out of the car."

An 11-month-old baby has died after being mauled by a pet dog, police in Lancashire have said. The baby girl, from Emily Street in Blackburn, died in hospital at about 23:00 on Monday. Police have arrested a 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of child neglect in connection with the incident.

She spotted a man as she turned down Half Acre Road who shouted at her to stop. He then followed her and pushed her down an alley where he raped her.
