Police stabbing - man arrested
A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a police officer in Kirkcaldy in Fife.
The incident happened around 5pm on Sunday when the officer and a colleague stopped a van from which the driver and passenger were trying to escape.
The officer, from the Glenrothes area, suffered injuries to his arm and stomach and was treated in Victoria Hospital before being discharged.
A 24-year-old man from Kirkcaldy has been arrested and is due to appear in court on Monday.
Police are still searching for the passenger in the vehicle who was not involved in the alleged stabbing incident.
Superintendent Alan Small from Fife Police said: "We are thankful that this officer did not suffer more serious injuries.
"Such events are extremely rare and I do not recall anything similar occurring in Fife, in more than 25 years of service."
