Ian Richardson dies age 72

Stage and television actor Ian Richardson has died suddenly aged 72.

Best know for his recent television performance as underhand politician Francis Urquhart in the BBC drama 'House of Cards', he had been due to start shooting on ITV's 'Midsomer Murders'.

His most recently screened role was that of the voice of Death in Sky's dramatisation of Terry Pratchett's 'Hogfather' where his resonant tone was instantly recognizable as one of Britain's most acclaimed Shakespearean actors.

Born in 1934 in Edinburgh, he studied at Glasgow's College of Dramatic Art. He was nominated for a Tony Award for his portrayal of Henry Higgins in a Broadway revival of 'My Fair Lady'.

Awarded a CBE in 1989, he won a Bafta for his role as the scheming politician Urquhart in the 1990's series 'House of Cards'.

He died peacefully in his sleep at his home in London.

He leaves a wife Maroussia and two sons.

Labour Politician Tony Benn Dies Aged 88
The veteran politician and former cabinet minister Tony Benn, 88, has died. He passed away at his home in London surrounded by his family. His children Stephen, Hilary, Melissa and Joshua said: "It is with great sadness that we announce that our father Tony Benn died peacefully early this morning at his home in west London surrounded by his family.

Leader of House of Lords dies aged 62
Tributes have been flooding in for the Leader of the House of Lords, Lord Williams of Mostyn, who died on Saturday aged 62. Lord Williams collapsed and died suddenly at his home in Gloucestershire on Saturday. No further details have been released.

Second Jogger Buzzed By Buzzard
A runner has been attacked by a renegade buzzard. It is the second time this month that a jogger needed medical treatment after being attacked by one of the birds. Stuart Urquhart, 36, a solicitor, sustained talon slashes around his head after the bird of prey attacked him on his morning run.

Pakistan Politician Murdered In London
A leading member of the MQM, one of the largest political parties in Pakistan, has been murdered outside his London home. Police confirmed they were called to an address in Edgware, north London where Imran Farooq, from Karachi was seriously assaulted.
