Mother jailed for car crash deaths
A mother who killed her two daughters and two other teenagers in a crash while driving under the influence of drugs has been jailed for nine years.
Davina Smith, 31, lost control of the stolen Ford Fiesta in January last year.
Her two daughters - Karis Goyette, eight and four-year-old Kalli Goyette - were killed in the crash, alongside two teenagers - Kezia Adger and Lee Gray, both 16.
The court heard how Smith, from Tilbury in Essex, had tried to claim that Lee was driving the car at the time of the accident.
Traces of cannabis and amphetamines were found in her body during subsequent hospital tests.
Smith was convicted of four counts of causing death by careless driving at Snaresbrook Crown Court in December. She had earlier admitted to a charge of aggravated theft in relation to the stolen car.
She has also been banned from driving for ten years.
