Vaughan hamstring blow for England

Andrew Flintoff will captain England against Australia in Brisbane on Friday after Michael Vaughan's hamstring injury ruled him out of the side.

Vaughan's injury is a bitter blow after he returned to the side after more than a year out after undergoing surgery on a career threatening knee injury.

Under Vaughan's leadership England defeated New Zealand by three wickets in Hobart.

The 32-year-old Yorkshire batsman is due to have the injury re-examined, but it is uncertain how long the minor, Grade 1, hamstring tear will keep him sidelined.

Vaughan's injury adds to England woes after Kevin Pietersen sustained a broken rib during the match.

Either Lancashire's Mal Loye or Essex's Ravi Bopara will make their test debut in the injury hit side for the one-day match in Brisbane.
