Ken Bigley death - man questioned

A man has reportedly been questioned in Turkey in connection with the death of Briton Ken Bigley, who was killed in Iraq in 2004.

Scotland Yard officers are understood to have travelled to Turkey in order to question Syrian national Loa'i al Saqa, who is currently in custody in Istanbul, charged with organising a series of suicide bombings in the city in 2003, including that of the British consulate.

Last April, a lawyer acting for Mr al Saqa claimed that he had taken part in the informal trial which had sentenced Mr Bigley to death under Islamic Sharia law.

According to reports from Turkey's state-run Anatolia new agency, Mr al Saqa was interviewed for over an hour by a Turkish prosecutor, in the presence of British police and officials from the British Embassy.

Mr Bigley, a 62-year-old engineer from Liverpool, was taken hostage in Baghdad in September 2004. He was later beheaded by his captors, but his body has never been found.
