Soap star granted bail in rape case
'Emmerdale' actor Ben Freeman has been granted bail after appearing in court in Barbados charged with rape.
The actor, who plays Scott Windsor in the ITV soap, was arrested and charged with the rape of a 16-year-old British girl at the Almond Beach Village resort on the island on November 29.
Magistrates in the island's capital Bridgetown set bail at 100,000 Barbados dollars (£26,000) for Mr Freeman, who is from Leeds in West Yorkshire.
The bail was granted on the condition that the actor returned to appear at Bridgetown Court in March next year.
It is not known when Mr Freeman will return to England.

Rape Investigation Against MP Mark Pritchard Dropped
An investigation into rape allegations against Conservative MP Mark Pritchard have been dropped, Scotland Yard has confirmed. Mr Pritchard, MP for The Wrekin in Shropshire, was arrested on 2 December, however he was released on police bail. He has now been informed no further action will be taken.

The founder of whistle-blowing website Wikileaks has been granted bail in London. Julian Assange, 39, will however remain in custody as prosecutors have two hours to lodge an appeal. The Australian is currently fighting extradition to Sweden, where he is accused of sexually assaulting two women.

A British lorry driver who was sentenced to 11 years in jail by a Greek court for transporting illegal immigrants into the country has been freed on bail today. David Wilson, 44, from Wyke near Bradford, was convicted in March after Greek officials in the town of Patras discovered 19 Kurds hiding in the rear of his lorry.

Doherty's Court Hearing Adjourned
Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty's court hearing has been postponed until 26 October. The adjournment was the decision of the court, and is not based on any request from Doherty or his associates. It is believed the hearing has been delayed so that the singer can spend more time trying to kick his drug habit.
