Investigation into soldier's death continues

Police are continuing to investigate the death of a soldier who was shot dead at a firing range in Kent on Thursday.

The soldier, who has not yet been named, is understood to have been participating in a routine training exercise at the Lydd firing ranges when the incident occurred.

A post-mortem, carried out by a Home Office pathologist, revealed that the soldier died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Kent Police are continuing to investigate the incident, assisted by military police.

MoD names British soldier killed in Iraq
The Ministry of Defence has named the British soldier killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq on Tuesday night. Sergeant Christian Hickey, of the 1st Battalion the Coldstream Guards, died as a result of his injuries, following the explosion, which took place around 11:23 local time in Basra on Tuesday night.

MoD names soldier killed in Iraq
The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the name of a British soldier killed in a bomb explosion in Iraq on Sunday. Major Matthew Bacon, 34, from the London area, was travelling in an armoured landrover in Basra, southern Iraq, when a roadside bomb exploded, hitting the vehicle.

Former soldier remanded over murder charge
A former soldier has been remanded in custody charged with the murders of four people at the weekend. David Bradley, 40, and a former Gulf war veteran, was charged yesterday with the murders of four members of his family, who were found shot dead at a house in Benwell Grove, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on Sunday.
