BA employee loses battle over Christian cross

A Christian British Airways worker who launched an appeal against the airline's decision not to allow her to wear a cross in work has failed to get the decision overturned.

Nadia Eweida, 55, who worked at the check-in counter in Heathrow was suspended after she refused to remove the cross.

BA said that its uniform policy stated that items of jewellery and religious items should be worn underneath uniforms where possible.

Mrs Eweida had objected to the decision, saying that she was being discriminated against because Sikhs were allowed to wear bangles and turbans and Muslims were allowed to wear headscarves.

Mrs Eweida told the BBC that she was "fairly disappointed" about the decision.

She has seven days to appeal against the airline's decision.
