Digging begins in hunt for missing boys
Police investigating the disappearance of two young boys on Boxing Day ten years ago have begun digging at a site near where they were last seen.
David Spencer, 13, and eleven-year-old Patrick Warren vanished after leaving their homes in Chelmsley Wood near Birmingham in 1996. They had gone out on a bicycle one of the boys received as a Christmas present. Their bodies have never been found.
Diggers have been brought in to search and area of waste ground in Old Damson Lane, Solihull, near the city's international airport.
Police investigating the disappearance of the two boys recently questioned a convicted paedophile and murderer in connection with the case.
Brian Field, 70, was jailed for life in 2001 for the rape and murder of 14-year-old Roy Tutill in 1968.
Last week, it was revealed that police officers investigating the disappearance of the two boys had questioned Field, who is currently being held in Full Sutton Prison in York.
He has denied any involvement in the double disappearance.
Police stressed that Field was just one line of inquiry that they were investigating.
