Search for ferry passengers stood down

A massive air and sea search in the English Channel for two ferry passengers reported missing has been stood down after the couple were found at home.

Dover Coastguard were alerted after two passengers were reported missing from a coach party on the ferry.

Although the crew searched the ship twice, no trace of the passengers was found.

Dover Coastguard contacted their French counterparts to co-ordinate a search for two passengers in a large search area.

A Coastguard tug Anglian Monarch, a Coastguard spotter plane, the Dover RNLI lifeboat, and the Calais and Boulogne lifeboats, have been joined in the search of the area by two French helicopters and a French Navy Frigate.
