Connection mystery blights BT Broadband service
BT is continuing to attempt to deal with a serious and widespread connection problem with its broadband internet service.
First signs of a problem apparently developed on Wednesday evening when users found their connections failing and no possibility of reconnecting despite repeated attempts.
On its 0800 1690199 service status line a recorded message says that the broadband service is experiencing “ongoing connection problems” and has apologised to users for “any inconvenience”.
A customer service announcement says: “We are currently investigating a problem with broadband access and you may be experiencing problems connecting to the service.”
Customers are requested to “power cycle” [switch on and off] their router and again attempt to re-connect.
“Please bear with us as we endeavour to resolve this problem as quickly as possible," the announcement concludes.
