Celebrity lawyer released on bail

Nick Freeman, the celebrity lawyer nicknamed 'Mr Loophole', has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Mr Freeman, who is well-known for representing famous clients, usually on motoring offences, was arrested in Manchester on Monday as part of an investigation being carried out by Gwent Police in Wales.

Gwent Police confirmed that Mr Freeman had been arrested along with another man.

A spokesperson said that two men, aged 45 and 49, were arrested in Manchester on Monday morning.

Both were released on bail around 11:30pm on Monday night, to return to a police station in December.

Mr Freeman issued a statement saying that he was innocent of the charge and would defend himself against the allegations.

The statement said: "At this stage I can't go into the details surrounding these allegations other than to say I'm innocent of these claims."

Mr Freeman's celebrity clients have included the likes of former England football captain David Beckham, Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson and model Caprice.
