Teenager charged over fatal stabbing

A 17-year-old youth has been charged with the murder of a man who was stabbed to death outside his house at the weekend.

Steven Nyembo-Ya-Muteba, a 40-year-old father-of-two, was killed after leaving his home in Hackney, east London, on Sunday night to speak to a gang of teenagers, who had gathered in the foyer of the block of flats where he lived, when he was attacked.

The suspect, who is also from Hackney and cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Thames Youth Court on Thursday. He was remanded in custody to appear in court at a later date.

Three other male teenagers, one aged 15 and two others aged 16, who were also arrested in connection with the case, have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Another 17-year-old male remains in custody at a police station in east London.
