Sally Anne murder trial set

A date has been set for the trial of the man accused of murdering teenage model Sally Anne Bowman.

Mark Dixie, 36, of no fixed address, appeared at the Old Bailey via video-link on Thursday. He was remanded in custody until December 15 for his next court appearance and the trial date was set for March 12.

Miss Bowman was attacked as she returned to her home in Croydon, south London, on September 25 last year. She was stabbed and and sexually assaulted.

Mr Dixie also faces charges of indecently assaulting a woman and outraging public decency.

Trial Date Set For Lost Prophets Frontman On Child Sex Offences

The trial of former cabinet minister Chris Huhne and his ex-wife will begin next Monday. It is alleged that in 2003 Vicky Pryce took speeding points for Mr Huhne so he could avoid prosecution. The 58-year-old Lib Dem MP pleaded not guilty to perverting the course of justice at Southwark Crown Court on Monday.

A senior Metropolitan Police officer is to stand trial later this summer on charges of misconduct in public office and perverting the course of justice. Police Commander Ali Dizaei, 47, appeared today at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court.

Trial Date Set For Shannon Kidnap Accused
A 39-year-old man accused of the kidnap and false imprisonment of West Yorkshire schoolgirl Shannon Matthews is to stand trial later this year. Michael Donovan, from Lidgate Gardens in Dewsbury, appeared at Leeds Crown Court via videolink on Wednesday.

Trial date set for newspaper's royal editor
The royal editor for the 'News of the World' is to stand trial next July charged with hacking into mobile phones belonging to the Royal Family. Clive Goodman, 48, from Putney, south-west London, was arrested following claims from Clarence House that the security of its telephone network had been breached.
