Man remanded over park stabbing

A man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a girl in south-east London.

Peter Anscombe, a 28-year-old healthcare assistant from St Mary Cray in Kent, appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court charged with the attempted murder of Carly Furness, 17, on Saturday.

Miss Furness was stabbed as she cut through a park on her way to the shop that she worked in on Orpington High Street around 8:40am on Saturday morning.

She was stabbed in the neck and stomach and remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Mr Anscombe was also charged with assaulting another woman with intent to rob, four days before the attack on Miss Furness.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on January 11.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder Over Wolverhampton Double Stabbing
A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a double stabbing in Wolverhampton. Marcel Mowbray, of Eastfield Grove, is due to appear before Wolverhampton magistrates. A 57-year-old woman remains in hospital in a stable condition with wounds to her neck, while a 55-year-old man with injuries to his back has been released.

Teen Remanded Over Rhys Jones' Murder
A teenage boy has appeared in court today, charged with the murder of Merseyside schoolboy Rhys Jones. The 17-year-old appeared before Liverpool Magistrates Court charged with the fatal shooting of eleven-year-old Rhys in Croxteth, Liverpool, last August.

Man remanded over PC stabbing
A 27-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of PC Jon Henry. Tennyson Obih, from Luton, appeared before Luton Magistrates charged with PC Henry's murder, as well as the attempted murder of two other men - Steven Chamberlain and David Knight - and trespass with intent to steal while in possession of a weapon.

Two more arrested over teenager's murder
Two more teenagers have been arrested in connection with the murder of London teenager Paul Erhahon. The pair, aged 15 and 18, were arrested in east London on Tuesday morning. Paul died after being attacked and stabbed outside a block of flats in Leytonstone on April 6. His 15-year-old friend was also stabbed but survived the attack.

Two arrested over PC murder
Two men have been arrested in Birmingham in connection with the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky. The men were arrested in connection with firearms offences, following a joint operation between West Yorkshire and West Midlands Police on Thursday morning. The men are being held for questioning in Birmingham.
