Baby injured in dog attack

An 11-month-old baby boy has been treated for facial injuries after being attacked by a dog.

The child was attacked by the pet, a Staffordshire bull terrier, in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire on Sunday. It is understood that the attack happened at the home of a close relative in Divernia Way, around 5pm.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, before being transferred to Yorkhill hospital where he is being treated for injuries to his face.

A spokesperson for Strathclyde Police said that the dog had been taken to a vet and "humanely destroyed" on the day of the attack.

Girl Savaged In Dog Attack
A Scottish schoolgirl is being treated in hospital for facial injuries after she was bitten by a dog in Kilmarnock. Toni Clannachan, 10, was bitten in the face by a Japanese Akita dog while she played in a friend's garden at a house on Tuesday. She was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment, where she is said to be in a stable condition.

Toddler In Surgery After Dog Attack
A two-year-old Swindon boy who suffered serious facial injuries when he was mauled by a dog has undergone surgery. The child is said to have had damage to the eye, one of his ears and part of his nose torn off in an attack by a Staffordshire bull terrier in a neighbour's back garden on Sunday evening.

Two Bailed After Baby Dies In Dog Attack
The 11-month-old baby who died after being mauled by a pet dog at a house in Lancashire has been named as Ava-Jayne Marie Corless. The girl died at Royal Blackburn Hospital a short time after the attack on Monday night. She had been asleep upstairs in a house on Emily Street in Blackburn when she was attacked.

Baby Girl Dies In Dog Attack
An 11-month-old baby has died after being mauled by a pet dog, police in Lancashire have said. The baby girl, from Emily Street in Blackburn, died in hospital at about 23:00 on Monday. Police have arrested a 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of child neglect in connection with the incident.

Twenty Dogs Die In East Yorkshire House Fire
Humberside Fire and Rescue have confirmed that twenty dogs have died in a fire in East Yorkshire. It is understood that a fire broke out at the home of a private dog breeder on Graingers Road, Hornsea, at about 19:00 on Saturday.
