Teenager shot dead in Nottingham
A murder investigation has been launched after a 17-year-old boy was shot dead in the middle of a shopping parade in Nottingham.
Police attending reports of a firearms incident at the Bridgeway shopping centre in the Meadows area of the city, just after midday on Tuesday, found Nathan Williams lying on the ground near a bookmakers.
The teenager was taken to Queen's Medical Centre, where he later died from his injuries.
A post-mortem examination revealed that he died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
A fingertip search of the area is continuing along with house-to-house enquiries. Parts of the scene in and around the Bridgeway Centre remain cordoned off.
Police are still exploring a motive for the killing. Superintendent Paul Cottee, co-ordinator for Nottingham Stands Together, said: "The investigation into this murder is continuing and we believe the answers lie within the Meadows community.
"The victim was killed just after midday in a busy shopping centre. There will be people who witnessed what happened, who are yet to speak to police, and there will be others who hold vital information about whoever is responsible for this shooting.
"There will be a significant police presence in and around the Meadows, and we would urge anyone who knows anything, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to speak to a police officer."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on: 0115 844 6912 or Crimestoppers on: 0800 555 111.
