Storm warning for the UK
The UK is expected to be hit by heavy rain and strong winds on Thursday night, as the remnants of Hurricane Gordon reach the country.
The Met Office is forecasting very windy weather on Thursday night, particularly across south western areas of England.
Gales are expected in places, with gusts of wind possibly reaching 70 to 80 mph.
BBC weather warned that the bad weather was expected to hit Cornwall and West Wales on Thursday, before affecting Northern Ireland and Scotland overnight.
Drivers of high-sided vehicles or towing caravans and motorcyclists are being advised to take extra care.
Motorcyclists are advised that they may be affected by turbulence caused by large vehicles and should keep well back when over-taking high-sided vehicles.
Motorists are also advised to slow down and consider pulling over at the next safe stopping place when severe wind warnings are given.
The Highways Agency also said that drivers should check the latest information on weather and road conditions before setting off on their journey.
