Mother's appeal following son's shooting

The mother of a teenager shot dead in Manchester has appealed for witnesses to the killing to come forward.

Jessie James was shot dead in Moss Side, Manchester at the weekend.

His mother, Barbara Reid, appealed for information from the community in connection with the murder. Describing her son as a "happy, God-fearing lad", she said: "Enough is enough".

Jessie was shot with a semi-automatic pistol in the early hours of Saturday morning. A post-mortem revealed that he died from three bullet wounds.

Police have said that they believe Jessie was not part of any gang and was probably the victim of mistaken identity.

However, his older brother Elmo, 18, is serving a prison sentence for robbery and possessing an imitation firearm. Mrs Reid has ruled out any connection between her older son and the murder of Jessie.

Police are reviewing their response to the murder after claims that Jessie's family had to wait nine hours before receiving a visit from a family liaison officer.
