Suspended sentence for student voyeur

A student who secretly filmed women in the bathroom at his university halls of residence has been given a suspended sentence.

Charles Greaves, 19, from Wellington, Shropshire, pleaded guilty to three counts of installing equipment to gain images for sexual gratification, as well as three counts of viewing images for sexual gratification.

Caernarfon Crown Court heard that Greaves had hidden a tiny digital camera in a shampoo bottle in the bathroom at the hall at the University of Wales in Bangor.

However, after failing to get good quality images, he then put a sign on the bathroom door requesting students to take baths instead.

Greaves has since left the university.

Greaves was sentenced to nine months in a Young Offenders' Institution, but it was suspended for two years.
