Man in court over bus stop stabbings

A man has appeared in court charged with the stabbing of three girls at a bus stop in Bridport, Dorset.

Ian Ruby, from Hort Lane, Bridport, was remanded in custody at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court on Monday.

He was also charged with the possession of an offensive weapon - a machete and a knife - in Chertsey, Surrey, last Saturday.

The girls, aged 14, 15 and 17, suffered serious injuries when they were stabbed after getting off a bus in East Centre last Wednesday afternoon.

All three girls remain in a stable condition in hospital.

The case has been adjourned until September 4 for a preliminary hearing at Dorchester Crown Court.
