Man released over bus stabbings

Police investigating the stabbing of three girls in Bridport, Dorset, have released a 20-year-old man arrested on Thursday without charge.

Charlotte Teague, 14, Sophie Hyne, 15 - both from Bridport - and 17-year-old Kirsty Edwards from Staffordshire were attacked after getting off the number 31 bus in East Street in the town.

All the girls suffered serious injuries in the attack and were taken to hospital where they remain in a stable condition.

Dorset Police said that the girls may have been involved in an argument with their attacker before the stabbings.

Police have appealed for information regarding the attacker, who is described as being aged in his early twenties with dark hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured bomber-style jacket, dark tracksuit bottoms, a dark baseball cap and light-coloured trainers.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Dorset Police on 01305 222 222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
