Flight turned back to Amsterdam
A US passenger plane has been turned back to Amsterdam's Schiphol airport, escorted by two F-16 fighter jets.
The Northwest Airlines plane was heading to Mumbai in India, when the pilot decided to turn back over German airspace.
The plane landed safely in Amsterdam and it is understood that several passengers are being held for questioning.
No further details have been released about the incident.

Missing Boy 'Safely Back Home'
A young teenage boy who had been missing for over a month has been found, according to reports. Daniel Whitehead, 13, was last seen at his home in Walsingham Avenue, Middleton, on May 21. Daniel was known to have friends and family in Burnley and police had appealed for him to return home.

The crash of a British Airways jet at Heathrow Airport earlier this year - from which, by some miracle, everyone escaped virtually unscathed - was probably caused by ice restricting the flow of fuel to the engines, investigators have now said.

An aircraft has reportedly been forced to make an emergency landing at Edinburgh airport. Thirty-six people were onboard the Flybe Bombardier Q400 plane, which was travelling from Manchester, when the crew were reportedly forced to shut down one of the aircraft's turboprop engines.

Passengers Escape Heathrow Plane Crash
Passengers had a near miraculous escape today when their international flight crash-landed short of the runway at Heathrow Airport. Passengers escaped down the emergency chutes after British Airways flight BA38 from Beijing came down. Six ambulances were sent to the scene and three people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
