Police hunt for murdered nurse's partner
Police investigating the murder of a nurse in Halifax are searching for her partner.
The bloodstained body of Helen Stokes, 30, was discovered in her flat in Copley, Halifax around 7:25pm on Monday evening.
A post-mortem revealed that she died from head and facial injuries associated with compression of her neck.
West Yorkshire Police said that they were searching for Ms Stokes' partner, Steven Balme, 34, who has not been seen since Sunday.
Police said that Mr Balme was not described as dangerous, but urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them, saying they were concerned for his welfare.
A police spokesperson said that Mr Balme was born in Bradford and recently lived in Halifax, but was known to have connections in the Leeds, Manchester and Hull areas.
The scene where the body was found has been cordoned off in order for forensic examinations to take place.

Police identify man shot in Halifax
Police have identified a man who was found suffering from gunshot wounds in a street in Halifax. Mian Shahid Mehmood, 29, was found by passers-by in Great Edge Road in the Warley area shortly before 8pm on Saturday night. He was taken to Calderdale Royal Infirmary, where he died a short time later.

Major Police Hunt Launched After Boy Taken From Hospital
A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.

'Skull Cracker' In Custody In London
Kent Police, in partnership with officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, have arrested two men in East London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. On 3 May, Kent Police began a search for Michael Wheatley, 55, who had failed to return to HMP Standford Hill after being released on temporary licence.

Riot Police Deployed As G8 Protesters Occupy Former Police Station
Some 100 riot police have been deployed in central London as protestors take to the streets to demonstrate ahead on the G8 summit being held in Northern Ireland next week. Officers were sent to Soho, where protesters are thought to have occupied a former police station on Beak Street.
