Inquest into boy's hotel fall death opens
An UK inquest into the death of a six-year-old boy who died after falling 50 feet from a hotel balcony with his father and sister has been opened and adjourned.
The inquest at Bourton Coroner's Court near Bristol, which lasted just two minutes, heard that Liam Hogan died from a head injury sustained in the fall from the Petra Mare Hotel in Lerapetra in Crete on August 16.
Avon Assistant Deputy Coroner Terence Moore adjourned the inquest pending further inquiries by the Greek authorities.
Liam's father, John Hogan, 32, and his two-year-old daughter Mia were also injured in the fall. Mia suffered a broken arm and returned to the UK with her mother, Natasha Hogan on Friday.
Mr Hogan remains in hospital in Crete, suffering from a broken arm, leg and chest injuries.
The Foreign Office said that Mr Hogan would be arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder when he fully recovers.
The Hogan family had been on a two-week holiday in Crete when the tragedy occurred.
