Three charged over man's killing

Three men have been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a young Asian man.

Shezan Umarji, 20, died after receiving fatal stab wounds during a fight between around 50 white and Asian youths in Preston, Lancashire in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Four other people were also injured in the incident and received treatment in hospital before being released.

Liam McKerney, 19, Lee Moore, 19, and a 17-year-old youth, all from the Preston area, were jointly charged with murder and violent disorder. All three were remanded in custody at Preston Magistrates' Court to reappear at Preston Crown Court on August 8.

Five other men arrested in connection with the murder have now been released on police bail.

Man pleads guilty to stabbing student
A man who stabbed a student to death on a train has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Thomas Lee Wood, 22, from Skelmersdale in Lancashire admitted killing first-year student Thomas Grant, 19, from Glouestershire who had been attending St Andrews University.

It is understood the car containing three men from Preston came off Lea Lane and collided with a tree. The 25-year-old driver and 24-year-old passenger were confirmed dead at the scene.

Two People Charged After Baby Seriously Injured
Two people have been charged after an eight-week-old baby was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A police investigation was launched after the baby girl was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital on 12 January. She was suffering from serious injuries, including a bleed to the brain.

Two teenagers are due to appear in court charged with the murder of a man in Henley. Stephen Langford, 43, died after being attacked in the street in Henley in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Fiancé admits Joanne Nelson killing
The fiancé of Joanne Nelson has admitted responsibility for her unlawful killing at Hull Crown Court. Paul Dyson, 30, of Hotham Road, Hull, was charged with the murder of Ms Nelson, whose body was found in woodland near Malton, North Yorkshire on March 24.
