Terror suspect remanded following court appearance

A man has appeared in court in London accused of conspiracy to murder under the Terrorism Act.

Sultan Mohammed, 21, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, has also been charged with conspiracy to cause public nuisance by use of poisons and explosives and is accused of possessing a CD suspected of being connected to the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism.

Mr Muhammed was remanded in custody at Bow Street Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on June 30.

Another man, 28-year-old Ahmed Suleiman, who was arrested during the same investigation, also appeared at Bow Street Magistrates' Court charged under Section 57 of the Terrorism Act.

West Yorkshire Police said that Mr Suleiman's charges relate to a separate matter.

Both men were arrested as part of a joint operation between West Yorkshire Police and the Metropolitan Police linked to the detention of a man at Manchester Airport on June 6.

The arrests are not linked to the earlier anti-terror raid at a house in Forest Gate, east London or to the July 7 London bombings last year.
