Funeral for teenage stabbing victim

The funeral of a teenage footballer who was stabbed to death outside his school has been held in London.

Kiyan Prince, 15, was stabbed in the chest outside the London Academy in Edgeware, north London, on May 18.

Kiyan had been described as a promising young footballer, who had played for Queen's Park Rangers youth team.

More than 750 mourners attended Thursday's funeral at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Holloway, north London.

Floral tributes in the shape of footballs and football shirts were also left at the church.

Speaking to the congrgation, Kiyan's father Mark Prince said that his son was "not just a prince by name". He said: "As a prince, you have to conduct yourself as a prince, deal with people with love and Kiyan really did.

"If any of you young people want to look up to somebody and have a role model, use my son, he eptiomised success in every area of his life."

A private family burial service was held afterwards.

A 16-year-old boy from Edgeware, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with Kiyan's murder.
