Special constable stabbed to death
Police have appealed for witnesses after a female special constable was stabbed to death outside her home in Wembley, north-west London.
Nisha Patel-Nasri, 29, was off duty when she was attacked late last night in Sudbury Avenue.
She was found in her nightclothes in the street by neighbours. She was taken to Northwick Park Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. She had suffered a fatal stab wound to the leg.
It is believed that Mrs Patel-Nasri had gone outside to investigate a disturbance in the street. Her husband, Fadi Nasri, was not at home at the time of the attack.
Neighbours said that they saw a man wearing a hooded top running away from the scene towards Harrow Road.
Mrs Patel-Nasri is understood to have recently chased off three burglars attempting to break into her home last week.
Police are investigating a possible link between the two incidents.
Aside from her work as an unpaid volunteer police officer, Mrs Patel-Nasri ran her own successful hairdressing business.
Commenting on Mrs Patel-Nasri's death, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair said: "Our hearts go out to Nisha's husband and family and friends. It is a tragedy that a young woman who willingly gave up so much of her valuable free time to work as a police officer in her local community should lose her life in this terrible way.
"Nisha was, tremendously popular with her colleagues, who regarded her a real team player, and her death is a huge loss to the Metropolitan Police Service."
Anyone with information is asked to contact: 020 8247 7821 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
