Fourth child falls ill in E.coli outbreak
A fourth toddler has fallen ill with a suspected case of E.coli 0157 in Fife, Scotland.
Three children are already being treated for kidney failure in a Glasgow hospital as a result of the outbreak.
On Wednesday, it was confirmed that the fourth child had also been admitted to hospital. The condition of all four children is described as "serious."
All four children attended the Careshare nursery at Lauder College in Dunfermline, Fife.
Two other children have also possibly contracted the disease and the cases are being investigated.
The first child fell ill last Friday evening, while the next two cases emerged on Monday night and Tuesday morning.
The nursery has been closed while health chiefs investigate the cause of the outbreak.
On Tuesday, it emerged that the nursery had been criticised in a government report for not consistently following infection control procedures.
However, a spokesperson for the nursery said that the issues in the report had been dealt with and stressed that there was "no evidence" that the nursery was the source of the outbreak.
