Doherty bailed following new drugs arrest

Rock singer Pete Doherty has been released on bail after being arrested in east London over drugs offences yesterday.

The 27-year-old Babyshambles frontman was arrested on Thursday afternoon after police stopped a car on Roman Road. The 21-year-old driver of the car was also arrested. He has also now been released on bail.

Scotland Yard confirmed that both men were arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.

The arrest came just hours after Doherty appeared before magistrates, where he had admitted seven counts of possessing controlled drugs. He was sentenced to a community order with two years' supervision, 18 months drug rehabilitation and banned from driving for six months.
