Second arrest over nurse murder
Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a nurse on Thursday have arrested a second man.
The eighteen-year-old is now being held at a north London police station.
Cheryl Moss, 33, from Dagenham was stabbed to death at the back of St George's Hospital in Hornchurch as she took a cigarette break.
A man in his twenties who was arrested yesterday in east London has now been released without charge.
Mrs Moss was attacked around 11am on Thursday morning. She suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The murder weapon has not been found. Police also believe that the attack was more likely to have been random, rather than carried out by a patient.
Extra security staff are now patrolling the hospital grounds in the wake of the attack.
Ralph McCormack, Chief Executive of the Havering Primary Care Trust, which runs St George's Hospital, said that security would be reviewed. He also paid tribute to Mrs Moss. He said: "Cheryl was very well respected and well known and a well-liked individual. It has touched many people very badly."
Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on: 0208 345 3985 or Crimestoppers on: 0800 555 111.
